A $10,000 winning ticket in the $2,000,000 Diamond Cashword instant game was sold July 21, at McGill's Deli in Wakefield. Diamond Cashword is a $10 scratch-off ticket. The biggest prize ever offered on a Massachusetts Lottery scratch-off ticket is $25 million, part of the $50 Billion Dollar Extravaganza instant game. One of the first winners of this top prize was Desiree Fortini-Craft of Hyde Park, who bought her winning ticket at a store in West Roxbury.
Fortini-Craft held onto the ticket while vacationing in Aruba, then returned home to claim the $16.3 million cash option after taxes. She had already booked a second trip to Aruba for Christmas, and said she planned to use the winnings to pay off her daughter's student loans, buy a new car, and cover other family expenses.
Interestingly, this wasn't Fortini-Craft's first lottery win. Massachusetts Lottery officials confirmed she had also won $1 million on a separate scratch-off ticket back in 2006 — making her a two-time million-dollar-plus winner.
