Delaware’s First Instant-Win Millionaire
Delaware’s first-ever $1 million scratch-off prize was claimed in June 2025 as part of the state lottery’s 50th Anniversary Instant Game. Three women came forward to accept the money, having bought the winning ticket at the Royal Farms store on South Salisbury Boulevard in Dover. It was the number 21 that did the trick for the winners. Their ticket was No. 21, and the winning number was 21. Also, one of them was born on the 21st.
Newark Woman’s Double Delight
They say lightning doesn’t strike twice, but a 70-year-old woman from Newark enjoyed a remarkable double win in October 2022. After banking $100,000 with a ticket bought at a gas station, she celebrated on the way home from the claim center a week later by purchasing three more Serious Money scratchers at a Dover convenience store. One of them turned out to be a $300,000 top prize winner, giving her a combined payout of $400,000 in the space of a couple of weeks.
Wilmington Man Wins $300,000
A trip to Tobacco Field II in New Castle paid off to the tune of $300,000 for a Wilmington man in August 2024. He had been playing on and off for a few years and liked to buy $30 tickets. On this occasion he played the Payout Instant scratch-off and landed the top prize. He told officials that he had always had a gut feeling that he would win big one day, but he was still shocked when it actually happened.
